Degrowth or the philosophy of degross : intellectual lineage of a political ideology

Degrowth has invaded the media and even the associative and political scenes. This article adopts perspective different from the sociology of militancy and aims at studying the philosophy of degrowth under the light of political ideas analysis so as to identify its intellectual roots. Indeed, the philosophy of degrowth is a genuine political ideology, both syncretic and interactive, with its cause entrepreneurs, its editorial productions, its social networks ; it produces a number of actions, mobilizations and social experimentations. This paper names some of this movement’s intellectual roots : ecologist thinking, neo-Marxism, post-development and anarchism.
