The European Union seems to have realized the necessity of being endowed with an autonomous security and defense policy. Several practical measures to that effect have already been taken. Nevertheless, this cannot exist without a contradiction and a gap : as it combines its efforts to attain manifest autonomy in matters of security and defense, while the Atlantic cooperation is maintained and even reinforced, the EU actually seems to be in a dead end.
