Abstract
The rapid development of regionalism during the last two decades is an important fact in international economic relations. « New regionalism » is a reality, not only in Europe but also in Asia, Middle East, Africa, or in America. Regional cooperation is not only based on trade openness, but also on economic policy cooperation. Several explanations can be formulated : the lack of efficiency of traditional international organisations, the new strategy of development based on openness, the end of bi-polarism, the need to produce regional public goods… Recent studies try to classify this new configuration of international relations.
