Security and liberalism in the United States

This analysis raises the question of the privatisation of security functions in the United States of America from two cases ; (1) the task of the think tanks [On this point, it joins the excellent study of Bernard SIONNEAU, [« Réseaux conservateurs et nouvelle doctrine américaine de sécurité », Annuaire français de relations internationales, vol. 4, 2003, pp. 498-531.]] and (2) the role of the media and the public opinion. More precisely, we intend to show how, and through which means, the privatisation of security tends to reinforce the realism (as the practice of realpolitik) of the American foreign policy. – Summary AFRI-2004
