Emerging powers in globalization

Abstract

The end of bipolarity did not lead to the world order being redefined. In this context, the main tests of strength produced by globalization must be acknowledged. One notices first the emergence of new major actors, such as Brazil, India, China or South Africa (BICS), and the rise of Asia in world political economy. Yet one must note the resistance of globalization’s losers and the advent of alter-globalization. Finally, the Bolivarian alliance for the Americas may represent an alternative to the current order.
