The international strategic context’s fast evolution, joined with strong budgetary restraints, has led to go beyond the domestic intelligence system that had been forecast in the aftermath of the WW2 by reorganizing the DST and the DRCG as a new agency, the DCRI, which has been operational since July 1st, 2008. This new direction, with a constant number of employees, has to allow a better anticipation of the evolutions of an unstable and unpredictable world, thus a better response to the varied threats our country is faced with in this early 21st century. The establishment of this direction is a landmark indeed, yet it is important to keep developing, even more than before, anticipation and reaction skills by thinking the unthinkable, which is no mean feat.
